SEDATION
At our office, we offer several methods of sedation for patients to choose from. Depending on your level of anxiousness, or the complexity of a procedure, a method can be chosen to best suit your needs and make your visit as comfortable as possible.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Nitrous Oxide sedation, also known as "laughing gas" is commonly used to make treatment more comfortable and relaxing. A mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen is inhaled through a mask that allows you to breathe in the sedative and benefit from the effects. Local anesthetic is usually administered in conjunction with nitrous oxide to make the procedure more comfortable. You are able to drive yourself to and from the appointment without issue, as the nitrous oxide is flushed from your system at the end of the appointment, eliminating its effects.
Oral Sedatives
Medications are taken the night before, and one hour prior the day of the appointment. The medication serves to enhance your relaxation experience, and is usually potent enough that a driver is required to take you to and from your appointment. Local anesthetic is usually administered in conjugation with oral sedatives to make the procedure more comfortable.
IV Sedation
This is the highest level of sedation offered at our office. An IV is started in the hand or arm, and medications are given via IV to sedate, and decrease levels of discomfort. Similar to a "twilight" sedation, you are able to respond to questions and commands. During the procedure, your vitals are monitored to insure your safety. Local anesthetic is usually administered in conjugation with the IV medications to make the procedure more comfortable. A driver is required to take you to and from your appointment.
